[EXTENDED HIGHLIGHTS] Arsenal 3-0 Ipswich: What You Need To Know From The Game
Arsenal put 3 past Ipswich to book a place at Wembley next month. The Gunners were favoured to win this match, and didn’t they do it in style. Our first chance came at the end of a good Arsenal move. In the 5th min Sagna’s cross was volleyed untidily into the stands by RVP. In the 9th min Cesc went down into the box but the ref waved it away, was it a dive ? Yeah, it was.
10 mins down the clock…And not a single attack from us. Who said this was going to be easy ? In the 15th min we were forced to make a substitution, Sagna off for Eboue as the former was knocked out by Szczesny. In the 18th min Cesc shot at the end of a ‘fortunate’ Arsenal move was saved by Fulop. In the 22nd min Nikko cross from the right-side of the box was headed into the cross-bar by RVP. It was a similar move to the 3rd goal against Leeds, but this time the cross-bar came in the way.
In the 34th min Jack lofted a ball which put Cesc through with Fulop, but sadly the Spaniard put it wide…How ?, I have no clue. The few mins before half-time did see us mount some attacks but nothing concrete. As we entered the 45th min Djourou was down after a clash of heads with Tomas Priskin.
When the second half began we did increase the tempo a bit, but the problem was that there was not enough cutting edge-only multiple corners. On the hour mark we got the crucial goal. Nikko with a beautiful low curling effort finally beat Fulop…1 nil to the Arsenal!
3 mins later we got the second. Kosher with a crucial header of Arshavin’s corner – Advantage Arsenal! The atmosphere at the Emirates did cool down after the goals as it witnessed Arsenal pass the ball around the field elegantly. And in the 76th min we were in cloud 9. Cesc Fabregas nutmeged Fulop at the end of an Arsenal counter-attack to make it 3….Arsenal 3-0 Ipswich town!
From that time on it was the usual run the clock-down Arsenal way. The game was done and dusted.
Zo Ze Finale…
