Arsenal Eyeing Late Swoop For £12.5m Attacker As Emery Looks To Secure 6th Signing

Arsenal are eyeing a late move to sign £12.5m-rated Torino forward M’Baye Niang as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his attacking options this summer

The summer transfer window is drawing to a close and managers are working hard to secure last minute deals so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal could move for M’Baye Niang…

Arsenal are eyeing a late move to sign £12.5m-rated Torino forward M’Baye Niang as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his attacking options this summer, according to reports in Italy via the Mirror.

Emery has already splashed out around £70m so far this summer on five new signings but they have all been brought in to tighten our leaky defence with goalkeeper Bernd Leno, right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner, centre-back Sokratis and midfield duo Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi all arriving in recent weeks.

The boss has suggested he’s still in the market for another signing during the closing stages of the window and the Spanish coach looks set to turn his attention to strengthening his attack if he can offload fringe players like Chuba Akpom, Joel Campbell and Lucas Perez.

We’ve been linked with a move for Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele in recent weeks but it seems Arsenal chiefs also have a slightly less ambitious target in mind if we can’t secure a deal for the talented French international.

The Mirror are citing a report from Tutto Mercato that claims Arsenal are eyeing a late swoop to sign M’Baye Niang after the forward’s proposed loan switch to Nice was rejected by Torino.

The newspaper says the Italian outfit will only consider letting Niang leave if it’s on a permanent basis and are prepared to do business if an offer of £12.5m is put on the table.

Arsenal have long been linked with the 23-year-old with scouts reportedly identifying him during his time at Caen and we’ve seemingly kept a close eye on his progress during spells at AC Milan, Montpellier, Genoa, Watford and more recently Torino.

Niang impressed at the World Cup finals with Senegal and it appears those performances in Russia may have convinced Arsenal to finally launch a move to bring the talented forward to north London.

The youngster is capable of playing anywhere across the front three positions so he’d be a useful addition to the squad but I have my doubts over whether he has what it takes to make it at a club like Arsenal.

Niang scored just twice during a disappointing loan spell at Watford and followed that up with 4 goals in 29 games for Torino last season so I would much rather see Arsenal go all-out for a top class player like Dembele than settle for Niang.
