[Video Goals] Inter Milan 2-1 Tottenham: Icardi Scores Stunner As Spurs Collapse

Tottenham Hotspur suffered a late collapse as Inter Milan scored twice late on to secure a vital 2-1 Champions League victory at the San Siro this evening.

The first half was poor as neither side could get going and it was no surprise that the scoreline remained goalless at half-time but Tottenham improved after the break and opened the scoring in somewhat fortuitous circumstances as Christian Eriksen’s effort looped over Samir Handanovic for 0-1.

Spurs were arguably the better side during the second half but couldn’t find that all-important second goal and they were made to pay when Mauro Icardi lashed home a stunning volley to make it 1-1 in the 85th minute.

Things went from bad to worse for the north Londoners as Inter snatched an unlikely late winner when Matias Vecino was on hand to head home at the far post following a corner in stoppage time.

Mauricio Pochettino will be devastated by the result as with Barcelona thrashing PSV Eindhoven in tonight’s other Group B game, Spurs now trail their rivals by three points and defeat to Inter could ultimately prove costly.
