Tottenham Confirm Major Fresh Injury Blow As Trio Ruled Out Of Huddersfield Trip
Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed a major fresh injury blow with the news that Christian Eriksen will miss Saturday’s trip to Huddersfield Town.
Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed a major fresh injury blow with the news that Christian Eriksen will miss Saturday’s trip to Huddersfield Town.
Eriksen played the full ninety minutes during Tottenham’s 2-1 win at Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend but didn’t feature during their penalty shoot-out victory over Watford in the Carabao Cup third round last night.
The north Londoners have now revealed that Eriksen is undergoing treatment on an abdominal injury and will miss the trip to Huddersfield on Saturday afternoon, which will be a huge blow to Mauricio Pochettino as the Danish international is a key part of his starting eleven.
The Spurs coach will continue to be without first choice goalkeeper Hugo Lloris too, as the French international is still working his way back to full fitness from a thigh injury that’s hampered him in recent weeks.
In a triple blow, second choice goalkeeper Michel Vorm is also still on the sidelines with a knee injury so Pochettino will have to rely on back-up stopper Paulo Gazzaniga once again – although the 26-year-old should be in confident mood following his heroics in the penalty shoot-out with Watford last night.
Tottenham could also be without Serge Aurier as the right-back will face a late fitness test on a thigh injury that he sustained in the League Cup clash at the MK Dons stadium.

Kieran Trippier is expected to be recalled at right-back on Saturday so Aurier’s potential absence wouldn’t be too much of an issue but Eriksen will be a huge miss for Tottenham this weekend.
Spurs head in to the Huddersfield game sitting fifth in the Premier League table so Pochettino will be hoping to keep the pressure on the top four with another positive result at the John Smith’s Stadium.
***UPDATE*** Since this article was published Pochettino has told reporters that despite the official club team news update stating Lloris is unavailable, the goalkeeper still has a chance of facing Huddersfield while Eriksen is aiming to be back for the Barcelona tie next week.
Poch on Eriksen: "After the game against Brighton he started to feel a small problem in this abdomen. Hope next week for Barcelona he will be available." Lloris might play on Sat despite team news: "The decision will be tomorrow if he can play at Huddersfield, if not then Barca."
