Chelsea Team News Update: Sarri Confirms Trio Could Return To Face Liverpool
Maurizio Sarri has confirmed that three of his players could return to the squad for Saturday’s league clash with Liverpool.
Chelsea will be in confident mood following their Carabao Cup win when they take on Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
Maurizio Sarri has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s provided a full team news and injury update ahead of the game including the latest on Antonio Rudiger, Pedro, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Andreas Christensen.
Rudiger missed the Carabao Cup win at Anfield in midweek after being forced off during the 0-0 draw at West Ham last weekend with a groin injury. However, the defender returned to training on Thursday afternoon and Sarri says there is a chance he’ll be passed fit to face Liverpool tomorrow evening.
Pedro has been forced to sit out Chelsea’s last two matches against West Ham and Liverpool after suffering a shoulder injury against Cardiff City earlier this month but the Spaniard is also back in training and could return to the squad this weekend.
Loftus-Cheek has struggled to make an impact this season and the midfielder has been hampered by a shin injury in recent weeks but the youngster will be hoping to make the squad against Liverpool on Saturday after resuming training yesterday.
The final update from Sarri surrounded Christensen and the Chelsea boss has confirmed the defender was taken off at Anfield in midweek due to a stomach complaint, not because he was injured.
Sarri told reporters:
Sarri says Toni Rudiger trained with the team for the second part of yesterday's session and there is a possibility he will be able to recover from the injury he picked up against West Ham. #CHELIV

Sarri says Andreas Christensen had a stomach ache at Anfield but wasn't injured. Pedro and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were both involved in the last part of yesterday's session and they are almost ready. #CHELIV

So the Chelsea squad is in good health as they look to get back to winning ways in the league following the draw at West Ham last weekend and victory over Liverpool tomorrow would see the west Londoners leapfrog their rivals in the table.
