Transfer deadline day is here and managers are working hard to strengthen their squad with last minute deals and identifying targets for the summer so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest rumours. Today, Man Utd are eyeing Jadon Sancho….
Manchester United are plotting a stunning swoop to sign Borussia Dortmund’s £90m-rated winger Jadon Sancho at the end of the season, according to the Metro.
Sancho joined the Watford youth academy as a child and progressed through the ranks before moving Manchester City in 2015 where he developed into one of the hottest young talents in European football.
However, the 18-year-old struggled to break in to the first team set-up under Pep Guardiola and controversially rejected a big-money contract from City in order to join Borussia Dortmund in 2017.
It’s proven to be an excellent move for the teenager as he’s enjoyed a hugely impressive spell in the Bundesliga that’s seen him become an important first team player having provided 7 goals and 12 assists in all competitions this season.
Sancho’s superb form has alerted Man Utd with the Metro claiming that Old Trafford chiefs are keeping a close eye on the winger’s progress with a view to making a stunning swoop at the end of the season.
United have failed to strengthen their squad this month but the newspaper says the Manchester giants are ready to spend big in the summer in order to turn the club back in to genuine title contenders.
A new right winger is on the agenda and the Metro suggests that United have identified Sancho as a prime target but they’ll have to be prepared to pay big money as Dortmund now value the teenager at around £90m.
Man City have a clause allowing them the chance to match any offer that Dortmund accept for Sancho but Guardiola has admitted it’s highly unlikely the player will return to the Etihad while he’s still in charge.
This puts United in pole position to sign Sancho in the summer and the Metro suggests that the England international winger would be open to the idea of moving back to the Premier League.

Jesse Lingard has been performing superbly well on the right flank under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in recent weeks but he’s not a specialist winger and Sancho would be a hugely exciting addition to the squad if United could somehow lure him to Old Trafford.
