Manchester United have been handed a major boost in their attempts to sign Kalidou Koulibaly as his former agent claims the £87.5m-rated Napoli star will not be heading to PSG, according to the Mirror via TeamTalk.
Koulibaly has developed in to one of the best centre-backs in world football since joining Napoli from Genk in 2014 but his future at the San Paolo Stadium has been cast in serious doubt after he was racially abused by Inter Milan fans earlier this season.
The 27-year-old doesn’t feel the Serie A authorities did enough in response to the sickening abuse and it’s fuelled speculation the defender will push for a move away from Italy at the end of the season.
Man Utd have been strongly linked with a swoop for Koulibaly over the past 12 months as they look to strengthen their defence with the signing of a top class central defender.
Koulibaly was reportedly a target for Jose Mourinho last summer while the Manchester giants were once again linked during the winter with club bosses prepared to back Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the market if the right deal came up.
Koulibaly ended up staying in Naples but the Mirror, via TeamTalk, claims United will renew their interest in signing the Senegal international ahead of the summer window and they’ve now been handed a boost in their pursuit.
The newspaper cites quotes from Kouliably’s former agent, Bruno Satin, who claims the defender could be on the move in a deal worth £87.5m this summer but insists he will not end up at PSG – who’ve also been linked in recent months.
Bruno Satin told Canal+:, as per the Mirror:
“PSG already have plenty of central defenders. Maybe he can play at No.10, they already play Marquinhos at No.6.
“But if Koulibaly leaves [Napoli], he will not come to PSG. His transfer could cost €100m (£87.5m).”
PSG would have been serious competition for United in the race to sign Kouliably so it will be a massive boost that they are seemingly not seen as a viable open for the player when he leaves Napoli.

Kouliably would be a huge upgrade on the likes of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones so United fans will be desperate for the club to win the race for his signature and be successful in luring him to Old Trafford this summer.
