The January transfer window is closed but managers are still looking ahead to the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Tottenham are in talks to sign Joachim Andersen…
Tottenham have held talks with Sampdoria vice-president Antonio Romei in London over a £22m deal to sign highly-rated defender Joachim Andersen, according to Calciomercato.
Mauricio Pochettino has failed to sign a single player in the last two transfer windows but chairman Daniel Levy is expected to loosen the purse-strings this summer as Spurs look to add to their already impressive squad.
A new central defender is set to be on the agenda as Toby Alderweireld is tipped to leave the North Londoners this summer after failing to sign a new contract and it seems Andersen has been identified as a potential replacement.
Spurs have now stepped-up their interest as CalcioMercato claims Sampdoria vice-president Antonio Romei and club lawyer Paolo Busardo flew-in to London for talks with Tottenham chiefs on Wednesday.
The Italian outlet says Spurs are trying to thrash out a deal which would cost around £22m but could yet face stiff competition for Andersen’s signature from Juventus and Inter Milan.
We’ll have to wait and see how negotiations progress but Andersen would be an exciting signing if Tottenham could pull it off as he’s developed in to one of the most talented centre-backs in Italian football since joining Sampdoria from FC Twente in 2017.
The 22-year-old has been a key part of Marco Giampaolo’s starting eleven this season having been virtually ever-present for the Serie A club and he’s also a regular with the Danish national team.

Andersen would fit the profile of player Pochettino looks for as he’s a young talent who has his best years ahead of him so I think he would be a top class replacement for Alderweireld if they could get a deal agreed.
