Tottenham got off to a winning start at their new stadium after easing to a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.
Spurs finally opened their new £1 billion stadium in north London after months of delays and understandably it was a cagey first half as Mauricio Pochettino’s men got used to their new surroundings.
However, Tottenham broke the deadlock shortly after half-time when Hueng-min Son – who was recalled to the starting eleven after being named on the bench against Liverpool – saw his left-footed effort from the edge of the area deflect into the Palace net for 1-0 in the 55th minute.
Palace pushed to find an equaliser but Tottenham secured the three points late on when Christian Eriksen turned the ball home from close range to make it 2-0 after Harry Kane had been brought down in the area.
The victory sees Tottenham climb back into the top four as they move one point above fourth-placed Arsenal in the Premier League table with the Gunners holding a game in hand.
