Team news: Tottenham confirm triple injury blow ahead of Man City showdown
Tottenham have confirmed three players will miss Tuesday night’s Champions League quarter-final showdown with Manchester City. See details here
Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to secure a first leg advantage when they welcome Manchester City to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night.
Ahead of the game, the north Londoners have issued a team news and injury update on TottenhamHotspur.com and confirmed that three players will miss the visit of Pep Guardiola’s men tomorrow.
Spurs will continue to be without Eric Dier as the midfielder is still nursing a hip injury that he picked up while playing for England during the recent international break late last month.
Mauricio Pochettino will also be without Serge Aurier as the right-back is still working his way back to full fitness following a hamstring injury that he also sustained while playing for the Ivory Coast during the international break.
In a triple blow for Tottenham, the north Londoners won’t be able to call upon the services of Erik Lamela against Man City as the Argentinean international has failed to recover from a hamstring problem that he picked up in training last week.
However, there is some positive news for Pochettino as the club have revealed that Fernando Llorente is back in contention against City after missing the win over Crystal Palace at the weekend due to concussion.
The Spanish striker has resumed full training with the rest of his team mates but is expected to settle for a place among the substitutes tomorrow night as Harry Kane is certain to lead the line up front once again.
Tottenham face a tough task against the defending Premier League champions so Pochettino will be desperate to secure an advantage at home on Tuesday night to put themselves in pole position heading into the second leg at the Etihad Stadium.
