Managers are making plans ahead to the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Ryan Sessegnon wants to join Tottenham over Man Utd…
Fulham’s £40m-rated youngster Ryan Sessegnon is ready to snub interest from Manchester United in favour of joining Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to the Evening Standard.
Sessegnon has been with Fulham his entire career having come through the clubs youth ranks and has established a reputation as one of the most exciting young talents in European football since breaking into the first team in 2016.
The 18-year-old was strongly linked with a number of top clubs last summer but decided to remain at Craven Cottage after Fulham secured promotion to the Premier League after winning the play-offs.
Sessegnon made 35 Premier League appearances this season – providing two goals and six assists – but couldn’t save Fulham from relegation straight back down to the Championship after they finished second bottom of the division this campaign.
The England U21 international is now expected to leave Fulham this summer as he has just one year remaining on his contract and he’s once again attracted interest from some of Europe’s elite clubs.
However, the Evening Standard claims that Sessegnon is ready to snub the likes of Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus in favour of joining Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
The United board are set to back Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the transfer market as the Norwegian coach looks to rebuild his squad at Old Trafford after finishing sixth in the table this season and it appears Sessegnon was on his radar.
But Solskjaer’s pursuit looks set for disappointment as the Evening Standard says the youngster will turn down Man Utd’s advances as he wants to remain in London to play under Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham.
The north Londoners have a long standing interest in Sessegnon and they could be eyeing him as a long-term replacement for Danny Rose – who’s tipped to leave the Champions League finalists this summer.
The newspaper report claims Fulham are demanding £40m for Sessegnon’s signature while Spurs are hoping to pay closer to £25m but a compromise deal is expected to be reached between the two clubs.
However, the paper says any transfer may have to wait until after Tottenham play in the Champions League final against Liverpool on June 1 as Pochettino will hold transfer talks with chairman Daniel Levy after the showpiece even in Madrid.

Sessegnon made his name as an attack-minded left-back but he’s also comfortable playing further forward as a wing-back or even as a traditional winger so he’d give Pochettino plenty of options if he does end up joining Tottenham this summer.
