Managers are making plans ahead to the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with a £50m double swoop…
Manchester United are looking to bring in two new full-backs with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plotting a £50m double swoop on Crystal Palace for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Patrick Van Aanholt, according to The Sun.
Solskjaer is gearing-up for a busy summer as he looks to revamp the squad he inherited from Jose Mourinho after finishing sixth in the Premier League this season and United desperately need new full-backs.
Antonio Valencia will leave the club when his contract expires next month and Ashley Young will turn 34 in July. Diogo Dalot was brought in last summer but he’s still only 20 and has plenty of developing to do so a new right-back is needed this summer.
The Sun claims Man Utd have identified Wan-Bissaka as a prime target after watching him excel at Selhurst Park this season and the club’s hierarchy are prepared to spend big to lure the 21-year-old to Old Trafford.
Palace are understandably desperate to keep hold of Wan-Bissaka as he’s become a key player for Roy Hodgson’s side after coming through their youth ranks and he’s emerged as one of the most exciting full-backs in the Premier League.
Wan-Bissaka would be a superb long-term replacement for Young and Valencia if United could get a deal agreed but Solskjaer is also reportedly looking to strengthen his options on the opposite side of his defence.
Luke Shaw enjoyed a strong end to the season after becoming a regular under Solskjaer following Mourinho’s departure and the 23-year-old was recently named as the club’s Player of the Year.
However, United have very little established competition for Shaw as Young and Matteo Darmian have been deployed as make-shift left-back’s at times this season but neither player is comfortable in that position.
So Man Utd could do with another left-back and The Sun claims they are keen to sign Wan-Bissaka’s team-mate Van Aanholt with the Manchester giants hoping to pull-off a £50m double swoop on the Eagles.
Van Aanholt has proven to be an astute signing for Palace since arriving from Sunderland two years ago and he made 40 appearances in all competitions this season – scoring four goals in the process.
The Dutch international’s impressive form has reportedly led to interest from Italy but The Sun suggests that Man Utd are now eyeing the 28-year-old as the man to offer competition for Shaw next season.

We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming weeks and months but I think Wan-Bissaka and Van Aanholt would be two excellent signings for United if they were able to pull-off this proposed double swoop on Palace.
