Managers are making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Liverpool target Matthijs de Ligt…
Man Utd are still in the race to sign Liverpool and Barcelona target Matthijs de Ligt with the Ajax defender interested in a move to Old Trafford this summer, according to the Telegraph.
De Ligt has emerged as one of the hottest properties in world football after enjoying a meteoric rise to stardom since breaking into the Ajax first team and he captained the club to the semi-finals of the Champions League this season.
The 19-year-old has been strongly tipped to join Ajax team-mate Frenkie de Jong in heading to Barcelona this summer but the Telegraph suggest the teenager is yet to make a final decision on his next destination and could yet snub a proposed £75m move to the Nou Camp.
The newspaper claims that Liverpool are among the clubs to have expressed their interest in signing De Ligt and the youngster would link-up with countryman Virgil van Dijk if he did end up moving to Anfield.
However, the Telegraph report says Manchester United are also still in the running to sign De Ligt and claim the player is interested in moving to Old Trafford despite the lack of Champions League football on offer next season.
Interestingly, the report says that sources close to the player claim De Ligt is attracted to the idea of being central to the rebuilding job at Man Utd with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hoping to build his defence around the teen star.
Man Utd are also willing to trump Barcelona’s contract offer, according to the Telegraph, so with United, Barcelona and Liverpool among the clubs battling for his signature, De Ligt has a lot to consider over the coming weeks.

The defender is expected to make a decision after Holland take part in the Nations League finals in early June but he’d be a sensational signing for Man Utd or Liverpool if either club could beat Barcelona to his signature.
