Liverpool join Man Utd in holding talks over audacious bid to sign world class star
Liverpool and Man Utd have held talks with the agent of Sergio Ramos to discuss signing the centre-back as he edges closer to leaving Real Madrid
Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool and Man Utd are linked with Sergio Ramos….
Liverpool and Manchester United have held talks with the agent of Sergio Ramos to discuss signing the centre-back as he edges closer to leaving Real Madrid this summer, according to reports in Spain via the Mirror.
Ramos has been one of the best central defenders in world football since joining Madrid from Sevilla in 2005 and he’s helped Los Blancos win a whole host of honours including 4 Champions League’s and 4 La Liga titles during his 606 appearances for the club.
However, the 33-year-old could finally be seeking a new challenge as Marca claims Ramos is seriously considering his future at the Bernabeu following a meeting with president Florentino Perez last week.
The pair reportedly clashed in the dressing room following Madrid’s shock exit to Ajax in the Champions League and it seems that may have been the final straw with the defender now ready to end his 14-year stay in the Spanish capital.
It seems the situation has alerted clubs here in the Premier League as the Mirror are citing Spanish outlet AS as claiming both Liverpool and Manchester United have held talks with Ramos’s agent to discuss a potential move to England this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to be active in the market over the coming weeks and tightening up his defence should be a priority after United shipped 54 goals in the league this season – 31 more than champions Man City conceded.
A new top class centre-back to line-up alongside Victor Lindelof is needed and it seems Man Utd are finally hoping to get their hands on Ramos after being linked with the Spanish international several times over the years.
Liverpool’s supposed interest is more surprising as Jurgen Klopp’s side had the best defence in the league this season so a centre-back wasn’t believed to be high on their priority list this summer.
Plus, Liverpool fans still haven’t forgiven Ramos for the role he played in getting Mohamed Salah injured during last year’s Champions League final so I’m not sure how welcome he’d be at Anfield if the Reds did end up signing him.

However, AS claim Liverpool and United are both keen to lure Ramos to England this summer and there is no doubting his quality so the experienced defender would be an excellent addition for either club if they could pull off what would be an audacious swoop.
