Manchester United have confirmed they’ve agreed a deal in principal to sign Daniel James from Swansea City after the winger completed his medical.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is gearing-up for a busy summer in the transfer market as he looks to overhaul a squad that missed out on Champions League qualification after finishing sixth in the Premier League last season.
The Norwegian coach is keen to add more British youth to his ranks and James emerged as a key target last month with widespread reports suggesting United were in talks with Swansea over a potential deal.
The negotiations took a backseat while the 21-year-old mourned the sudden death of his father but talks were rekindled this week and the Mirror were one of several outlets to report on Thursday that James was at Carrington to undergo his medical after a deal was agreed between the two clubs.
Manchester United have now confirmed on their website and on an social media that they’ve agreed a deal in principle with Swansea to sign James after the young attacker passed his medical.
We're delighted to have agreed terms, in principle, with Swansea City for the transfer of Daniel James to #MUFC.

The club haven’t disclosed the fee but the Evening Standard claims United will pay around £15-£18m up front with the deal rising to £22m including various add-ons and the transfer will be officially completed when James returns from international duty with Wales.
The winger has linked up with Ryan Giggs’ squad ahead of their Euro 2020 qualifiers against Croatia and Hungary so is expected to become Man Utd’s first major signing of the summer at some point next week.
James came through the youth system at Swansea and emerged as one of the brightest young talents in British football after putting in a string of impressive displays for their first team last season.
