Manchester United are set to launch a fresh £50m bid to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka after Crystal Palace knocked back their opening £40m offer for the right-back, according to the Mirror.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has wasted no time strengthening his squad this summer after agreeing a deal to sign winger Daniel James from Crystal Palace but the United boss is expected to make a number of further additions following a disappointing campaign.
A new right-back is on the agenda as Antonio Valencia has left the club while Ashley Young turns 34 next month so a long-term replacement is needed to compete with Diogo Dalot for a starting spot over the coming years.
Wan-Bissaka has emerged as a key target for Man Utd as he fits the profile of player Solskjaer is looking for which is a young British talent who can develop his skills at Old Trafford rather than a established name who’s best years are behind him.
The Mirror claim United have already seen an opening offer worth around £40m rejected by Palace but the Evening Standard are reporting that senior officials at the club felt they were encouraged to make an improved bid.
The newspaper says the Man Utd hierarchy were left believing an increased offer would be accepted following talks with Palace bosses and it seems the Manchester giants are ready to test the Londoners resolve once again.
According to the Mirror, United are set to table a fresh £50m offer for Wan-Bissaka and while that’s still £10m short of what Palace have quoted, the Red Devils hope their improved bid will be enough to get a deal agreed.
We’ll have to wait and see how Crystal Palace respond once United’s reported new offer is put on the table but Wan-Bissaka would be an excellent signing if they could get a deal over the line this summer.
