Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Tottenham make their move for Man Utd target Tanguy Ndombele….
Tottenham have launched a £60m bid to sign Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele ahead of Manchester United as Mauricio Pochettino looks to kick-off his summer transfer business, according to reports via the Metro.
The Spurs boss has been extremely quiet in recent transfer windows but he’s expected to much busier this summer as the Argentinean coach tries to strengthen his squad following their heartbreaking defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League final.
A new midfielder appears to be on the agenda as Moussa Dembele left the club in January while Victor Wanyama and Christian Eriksen are also being linked with moves away from North London so Pochettino needs to sign at least one central midfielder this summer.
Ndombele has emerged as a prime target after catching the eye of several European clubs following his superb form last season with his all-action performances in the middle of the park helping Lyon secure Champions League qualification.
The Metro claims that Manchester United are among the clubs to have expressed their interest in signing Ndombele with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needing to replace Ander Herrera after he left the club on a free transfer having ran down his contract.
Paris Saint-Germain are also named as potential suitors for Ndombele, however, it appears Tottenham have stolen a march on their rivals as the Metro are citing a report from The Sun that claims Spurs have launched a £60m bid to sign the midfielder.
That would represent a huge investment from Tottenham and Sky Sports are also citing a report from Sky Italy as saying that Spurs are closing-in on a deal to sign the French international so it appears a deal could be on the cards.
However, they may have to dig a little deeper as The Sun says Lyon want at least £65m for the 22-year-old and hope that figure could rise if a bidding war starts between the likes of Spurs, United and PSG.
It remains to be seen whether the latter two clubs will step-up their interest and submit rivals offers but for now it looks like Tottenham are pushing hardest to sign Ndombele and I think he’d be an excellent addition to their squad if they could get a deal over the line.

The newspaper report says Pochettino is also keen on Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon and Leeds United winger Jack Clarke but the Tottenham boss wants to land Ndombele first to make him his first summer signing.
