Tottenham are growing increasingly confident of fending off interest from the likes of Manchester United to sign £63m-rated Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele this summer, according to Football London.
Ndombele has developed into one of the most highly-rated midfielders in French football since joining Lyon from Amiens last summer after enjoying a superb debut campaign at the Olympic Stadium.
The 22-year-old’s all-action performances in the middle of the park over the past 12 months have led to him breaking into the French national team with Ndombele earning four caps since being handed his debut by Dider Deschamps in October 2018.
The midfielder has also caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League as the Metro reported last week that Manchester United had joined Tottenham in registering their interest in signing Ndombele this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in the market for midfield reinforcements as Ander Herrera is set to leave Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of the month while Paul Pogba has cast his future in doubt after admitting he wants a new challenge.
It seems Ndombele is on Man Utd’s radar, however, Tottenham have emerged as the front runners for his signature in recent days and Football London claim the north Londoners are increasingly confident of getting a deal agreed.
The report says Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has been in negotiations with Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas and is trying to thrash out a deal after Mauricio Pochettino made Ndombele his number one transfer target.
Aulas confirmed earlier this week that talks were on-going over Ndombele and Football London claims Spurs are confident a deal will be done after the player indicated he wants to join Tottenham and play under Pochettino.

Ndombele fuelled the speculation earlier this week after admitting he would be interested in playing for Spurs:
“Tottenham are a big club, they finished in four place in their league, they were Champions League finalists – which player would not be interested in a big club?” he’s quoted as saying by Football London
The French international would be a superb signing for Tottenham but he won’t come cheap as Football London suggest Lyon’s asking price is around £63m. Such a deal would shatter Tottenham’s club record fee after they paid £40m for Davinson Sanchez two years ago.
