Want-away international star keen on Man Utd move, deal will cost £100m
Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Christian Eriksen is eyeing a move to Man Utd…
Christian Eriksen wants to join Manchester United or Juventus this summer but Tottenham are demanding around £100m for the wantaway midfielder, according to the Mirror.
Eriksen has been a key player for Spurs since joining the club from Ajax in 2013 with the Danish international providing 66 goals and 86 assists in his 277 appearances in all competitions for far.
However, the 27-year-old’s future in north London is in serious doubt as he’s about to enter the final year of his contract and has failed to agree terms over an extension which has led to speculation he’ll be on the move this summer.
Eriksen fuelled the rumours after going public with his desire to leave Tottenham in search of a new challenge this summer but conceded that his future may lay in the hands of chairman Daniel Levy.
Eriksen is quoted by the Mirror as saying earlier this month:
“I have the wildest and deepest respect for everything that has happened in Tottenham, nor will it be negative. But I have also said that I would like to try something new.
“I hope there will be a clarification during the summer. That’s the plan. In football you do not know when a clarification comes. It can happen anytime. Everyone wants it best if it happens as soon as possible, but in football takes things time.
“It depends on Daniel Levy, and another club has to come. Or I have to sit down at the table and negotiate a new contract. You can’t set a date yourself.
Eriksen was strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid earlier in the summer and the Mirror says he was so convinced that he was heading to the Bernabeu, he packed his house before Tottenham lost to Liverpool in the Champions League final.
However, Real have since signed Eden Hazard from Chelsea and the newspaper says Eriksen’s hopes of joining the Spanish giants have been dashed after Zinedine Zidane made Man Utd star Paul Pogba his prime midfield target.
Eriksen could be set to replace Pogba at Old Trafford as the Mirror claim the Spurs star is now eyeing a move to Manchester United while a switch to Juventus would also appeal to the Danish playmaker.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is revamping his squad following a disappointing campaign and Eriksen has been touted as a potential replacement for Pogba should the Frenchman force a move away from United this summer.
The Mirror says Eriksen has already told his Tottenham team mates that he’s leaving the club but United will have to be prepared to dig deep if they want to agree a deal as the paper says Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is demanding £100m for his signature.

That is a huge sum of money for a player that has a year left on his contract but Levy is renowned for being a tough negotiator and he won’t make it easy for Man Utd if they want to take Eriksen to Old Trafford this summer.
