Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Bruno Fernandes…
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has asked Manchester United chiefs to wrap-up a deal to sign £62m-rated midfielder Bruno Fernandes as soon as possible amid rival interest from Tottenham, according to reports in Portugal via The Sun.
Fernandes is a wanted man among among England’s elite clubs after enjoying a sensational campaign that saw him provide 32 goals and 18 assists in his 53 appearances for Sporting last season.
The 24-year-old has been strongly linked with the likes of Man Utd and Tottenham in recent weeks after starring for Portugal as they won the Nations League with victory over Holland earlier this month.
The Sun claim Fernandes’s agent Miguel Pinho was in England last week to hold talks with interested clubs about a potential move this summer but was told Sporting’s £62m asking price was too high.
The newspaper cite a report from Portuguese outlet Record that claims Man Utd are in pole position ahead of Spurs to sign Fernandes but Solskjaer has pleaded with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to speed up negotiations to ensure a deal is done as quickly as possible.
Solskjaer wants his summer business done before the squad arrives back for pre-season training in early July and the Norwegian coach is seemingly keen not to miss out on Fernandes to Tottenham and wants to have the attacking midfielder on board quickly.
United have already wrapped-up a deal to sign winger Daniel James from Swansea while they’re being strongly linked with Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka and it looks like Fernandes is also firmly on Solskjaer’s radar.
Man Utd are in the market for a new midfielder as Ander Herrera has left the club while Paul Pogba has suggested he wants to leave in search of a new challenge and Fernandes could be viewed as a potential replacement.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming days as there is obviously still time for Tottenham to step-up their interest in the Portuguese international but I think Fernandes would be an exciting signing for United or Spurs if either club could get a deal agreed.
