Arsenal are interested in signing Malcom on an initial season-long loan deal as Barcelona look to try and offload the £36m-rated attacker this summer, according to Spanish outlet Sport.
Unai Emery is desperately trying to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season and the Gunners boss needs to bring in a winger as we have a real lack of options out wide in attack at present.
It looks like we’re being priced out of a move for Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha while links to Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser appear to have gone cold in recent weeks so Emery is on the market for alternatives.
Spanish outlet Sport suggest Arsenal have now renewed our interest in long-term target Malcom and are hoping to sign the Brazilian international on an initial season long loan with an option to buy next summer.
Malcom was strongly linked with a move to the Emirates before he opted to join Barca from Bordeaux 12 months ago but his time at the Nou Camp has been a disappointment as he’s struggled to establish himself as a first team regular.
The 22-year-old started just 6 La Liga and Champions League games last season and Sport says Barcelona are now ready to cash-in as they look to make room for the possible return of Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain.
Sport says Malcom’s agent is due to hold talks with Barca officials this week in order to resolve his future. The Spanish champions hope to sell for around £36m but the attacker is reluctant to leave on a permanent basis and would prefer a loan deal.
That could work well for cash-strapped Arsenal as a loan would suit both parties but it remains to be seen whether we can strike a deal with the Catalan giants as they need to raise funds for their pursuit of Neymar.
It’s going to be interesting to see how things develop over the coming days but I think Malcom would be an excellent signing if we can get him on loan with an option to buy next summer.

Emery is working on a tight budget and he desperately needs to strengthen the defence and midfield with at least three signings so we could focus our money on those positions if we were able to land Malcom on loan.
