Manchester United are ready to battle it out with Tottenham over a potential £70m deal to sign Real Betis star Giovani Lo Celso this summer, according to the Mirror.
Lo Celso is one of the hottest talents in European football after enjoying an excellent debut season with Betis having joined them on an initial 12-month loan from Paris Saint-Germain last summer.
The 23-year-old contributed 16 goals and 6 assists to help Betis finish 10th in the La Liga table and his impressive form led to the Spaniard’s activating a £20m option to make his move permanent back in April.
However, Betis face a battle to keep Lo Celso past the summer as the Mirror are citing a report from MARCA that claims Manchester United have now joined Tottenham in the race to sign the Argentinean international.
Mauricio Pochettino snapped up Jack Clarke and Tanguy Ndombele on Tuesday but the Tottenham manager is keen to further strengthen his squad and Lo Celso has been lined-up as a possible replacement for Christian Eriksen after he indicated he wants a new challenge.

The Mirror says Spurs have already seen an enquiry knocked back by Betis after the La Liga outfit initially demanded the full value of Lo Celso’s £89m release clause had to be met in order for a deal was to be struck.
However, Marca claims Betis have now indicated they will cash-in if £70m is put on the table and this has alerted Man Utd with the Red Devils now ready to go head-to-head with Tottenham over a deal.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already signed winger Daniel James and right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka but the United boss is also in the market for a creative midfielder amid speculation linking Paul Pogba with a move away from Old Trafford.

United have been strongly linked with Bruno Fernandes but it appears Lo Celso is also on Solskjaer’s radar and the South American attacker would be an exciting signing for Tottenham or United if either club could get a deal agreed.
