Agents jets in to finalise deal after Man Utd agree personal terms with £53m star
The agent of Bruno Fernandes is in England to try and push through a deal after Manchester United agreed personal terms with the Sporting Lisbon star
Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Here, the latest on Man Utd’s pursuit of Bruno Fernandes…
The agent of Bruno Fernandes is due in England on Wednesday night to try and push through a deal with Manchester United after they agreed personal terms with the Sporting Lisbon star, according to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already signed winger Daniel James and right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer but the United boss is hoping to further strengthen his squad following a disappointing campaign that saw them finish outside the top four.
A creative midfielder is on the agenda and Fernandes has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford with Sky Sports confirming that Man Utd are hoping to sign the Portuguese international this summer.
It looks like a deal has now moved a huge step closer to becoming a reality as Gazetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira claims United have now agreed personal terms with Fernandes over a a contract worth around £5.4m per season [€6m] plus bonuses.
Schira says Fernandes’ agent, Miguel Pinho, is now due in England tonight to hold face-to-face talks with Man Utd chiefs with the aim of formalising a strategy to put their offer forward to Sporting Lisbon.
The agent said on Twitter:
All confirmed: tonight Miguel Pinho (#BrunoFernandes’agent) will be in England to discuss the Bruno’s deal to #ManchesterUnited. They have a telephone agreement by €6M a year plus bonuses. Now have to decide the strategy and offer for Sporting.
The Mirror claims Man Utd had hoped to sign the 24-year-old for around £31m but Sporting are holding out for an offer closer to £53m so the two clubs appear far apart with their valuations.
We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming days but Fernandes would be an exciting signing if United can pull it off as he’s become one of the most dangerous attacking midfielders in Europe.
The Portuguese international contributed an impressive 32 goals and 18 assists in all competitions last season to help guide Sporting to two domestic trophies while he also helped his country win the Nations League this summer.

I think Fernandes would be an excellent piece of business for the Manchester giants but fans will be concerned that his arrival could pave the way for Paul Pogba to leave the club after he went public with his desire to seek a new challenge.
