Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Here, the latest on Bruno Fernandes’ proposed move to Man Utd…
Sporting Lisbon are confident they’ll reach an agreement with Manchester United for the sale of £70m-rated attacker Bruno Fernandes during a meeting next week, according to reports via The Sun.
Fernandes has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford throughout the summer with widespread media reports suggesting United are in pole position to land the midfielder after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer identified him as a prime transfer target.
Gazetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira claimed earlier this month that Fernandes’ agent Miguel Pinho was in England holding talks with United chiefs over a potential move this summer.
Duncan Castles – who writes for the Times – then told the Transfer Window Podcast last week that Pinho had informed Sporting that United were ready to submit a formal offer for Fernandes.
Now, The Sun are citing Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri as claiming that Man Utd have held fresh talks about signing the Portuguese international and Sporting are confident a deal will be agreed during a meeting next week.
Palmeri said on Twitter:
Manchester United had another contact with Bruno Fernandes. Sporting confident to close the deal next week, when a new meeting is expected.
We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming days but any deal for Fernandes is unlikely to come cheap as The Sun says Sporting Lisbon value him at around £70m.
United obviously have the financial muscle to pay that kind of money and Fernandes would be an exciting addition to Solskjaer’s squad if the Manchester giants were able to pull off a deal.
