Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Here, Man Utd agree deal for Harry Maguire…
Manchester United have finally agreed terms over a record £80m deal to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester City as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer closes in on his third signing of the summer, according to report.
United have been chasing Maguire all summer after Solskjaer identified the England international as the man to help tighten-up his defence after the Manchester giants conceded 54 Premier League goals last season.
The Mirror reported last week that Maguire had informed Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers that he wanted to leave the King Power Stadium after they rejected United’s opening £70m bid but the Foxes have stood firm and refused to lower their £80m valuation.
However, it appears a breakthrough has been found as the Express are citing Bleacher Report journalist Dean Jones as claiming that Man Utd have agreed terms with Leicester over an £80m deal to sign Maguire.
“United finally agreeing terms on the £80m Maguire deal.”
The Independent are also reporting that Man Utd have found a breakthrough in their negotiations with Leicester with their sources claiming Maguire’s move to Old Trafford is now ‘imminent’.
The newspaper suggests United have found a compromise deal with Leicester that will see them pay £70m up front plus £10m in add-ons to sign the 26-year-old centre-back – which means it will be a world record fee for a defender.
Maguire is now set to become Man Utd’s third major signing of the summer window with the defender following winger Daniel James and right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka in making a move to Old Trafford this summer.

We’ll have to wait and see how this proposed deal progresses over the coming days but if United do sign Maguire then I think he’ll be an excellent addition to their squad as he’ll be a big upgrade on the likes of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.
