Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Here, Man Utd are to launch a £30m bid for Sean Longstaff….
Manchester United are ready to table a formal £30m offer for Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to land his third summer signing, according to the Mirror.
Solskjaer is revamping his squad after finishing sixth in the Premier League last season and the United coach has already signed winger Daniel James from Swansea City while right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has completed his switch from Crystal Palace.
However, Solskjaer is hoping to bring in more new recruits before the start of the new campaign and a midfielder is on the agenda as Ander Herrera has joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer after running down his contract.
Longstaff has been touted as a prime target throughout the summer as Solskjaer is keen to build a squad focussed on young British players but Man Utd have struggled to get a deal agreed with Newcastle due to their hefty valuation.
According to the Mirror, Newcastle have been demanding £50m for the 21-year-old despite the fact he was on the verge of re-joining Blackpool on loan in the winter before former boss Rafa Benitez handed him his debut on Boxing Day.
Longstaff was an instant hit after cementing himself in the Newcastle first team during the second half of the season and his potential caught the attention of United scouts who’ve persuaded Solskjaer to try and lure him to Old Trafford.
However, the Mirror claims Manchester United bosses feel Newcastle’s £50m asking price is excessive and are ready to test their resolve with a £30m bid – which is expected to be tabled imminently.
The newspaper says executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has stayed in Manchester to focus on transfer business and will miss the clubs pre-season tour of Australia and the Far East – the first time he’s missed a tour during the last six years.

We’ll have to wait and see whether United’s £30m will be enough to tempt Newcastle into a deal for Longstaff but the young midfielder looks to have a huge future ahead of him so he’d be an exciting long-term addition to Solskjaer’s squad.
