The agent of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is in England to finalise a possible move to Old Trafford as Manchester United close-in on a stunning £71.3m deal for the Lazio midfielder, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Milinkovic-Savic has long been linked with a move to United and reports have emerged in recent days suggesting the Manchester giants have renewed their interest as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to bring in another midfielder this summer.
Ander Herrera joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer this month after running down his contract so Solskjaer is expected to sign a replacement for the Spaniard with Newcastle’s Sean Longstaff also touted as a target.
However, Milinkovic-Savic has seemingly been identified as the man to fill the boots of Paul Pogba as Gazzetta dello Sport claims United will sign the Lazio star if Pogba seals a proposed move to Real Madrid this summer.
The Italian outlet says Milinkovic-Savic’s agent – former Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman – is in England to put the finishing touches on a move to Old Trafford as United prepare for Pogba’s exit.
Gazzetta dello Sport claims Man Utd have all-but agreed a deal with Lazio worth £71.3m [€80m] – €75m up front with €5m add-ons – while Milinkovic-Savic is set to sign a long-term contract worth around €6m-€7m-per season.
These reports certainly seem convinced that the Serbian international is heading to United but it’s worth pointing out that any proposed deal for Milinkovic-Savic is contingent on Pogba moving to Madrid – which is still far from certain.
The French international went public with his desire to seek a new challenge earlier in the summer leading to intense speculation he would join Madrid but Man Utd have consistently said they are determined to keep hold of the 26-year-old.

If Pogba has managed to force his way out of Old Trafford then Milinkovic-Savic would be an exciting replacement as the 24-year-old is a huge talent but despite all the rumours, I still think there is a strong chance Pogba will remain at Man Utd beyond the summer.
