Manchester United are hoping to beat Tottenham to the signing of Ryan Sessegnon after holding talks with the agent of the £27m-rated Fulham star
We’re now at the business end of the summer transfer window and managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Here, the latest on Ryan Sessegnon….
Manchester United are hoping to beat Tottenham to the signing of Ryan Sessegnon after holding talks with the agent of the £27m-rated Fulham star, according to Duncan Castles via TeamTalk.
Sessegnon has been at Fulham since he was eight and played a pivotal role in their promotion to the Premier League in 2018 but the youngster was unable to prevent the Londoners from dropping straight back to the Championship last season.
The 19-year-old has just one year remaining on his current contract at Craven Cottage and has made it clear he won’t be signing an extension so Fulham are set to cash-in while they can still command a sizable transfer fee.
Tottenham have been touted as the front runners for his signature with the Mirror reporting earlier this week that Spurs were set to sign Sessegnon in a deal that could see either Josh Onomah or Georges-Kevin Nkoudou heading in the opposite direction.
Mauricio Pochettino is revamping his squad this summer following their Champions League final heart-break and it seems the Argentinean coach his lined-up Sessegnon as a replacement for Danny Rose – who’s been told he can find a new club this summer.
However, it looks like Man Utd are hoping to hijack Tottenham’s proposed move as TeamTalk are citing Duncan Castles as saying that the Red Devils have also held talks with Sessegnon’s agents over a potential move to Old Trafford.
Castles – who works for The Times – told the Transfer Window podcast that United have expressed their interest in signing the teenager along with Tottenham, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig.
The report says Fulham want around £27m for Sessegnon’s signature and the England Under-21 international fits the profile of player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking for this summer as he tries to build a young British core throughout his squad.
United have already snapped-up Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka while they are reportedly pushing to sign Harry Maguire and it appears Sessegnon is another talented young Englishman that’s on Solskjaer’s radar.

We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming days but Sessegnon is a huge talent who’s comfortable playing at left-back or further forward in attack so he’d be a great signing for Spurs or United.
