Player flying-in to undergo medical after Man Utd agree £56m deal – reports
Bruno Fernandes is travelling to the UK to undergo his medical and finalise his move to Manchester United after a deal was agreed with Sporting Lisbon
We’re now at the business end of the summer transfer window and managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Here, Man Utd close-in on Bruno Fernandes…
Bruno Fernandes is travelling to the UK to undergo his medical and finalise his move to Manchester United after a deal was agreed with Sporting Lisbon, according to various reports.
Fernandes has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford all summer with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly identifying the Portuguese international as the man to add some creativity to his midfield this season.
The 24-year-old contributed a staggering 32 goals and 18 assists for Sporting Lisbon last year to make him one of the most dangerous attacking midfielders on the planet and it looks like United are closing in on a big-money deal.
Spanish outlet Marca claim Fernandes is en route to the UK to undergo his medical after Manchester United agreed a £55.8m [€62m] deal with Sporting. This is the same figure stated by Gazzette dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira – who also says a €62m deal is in place and Fernandes is set to sign a five-year contract with United.
Another Spanish publication, Sport, is also reporting that Fernandes will complete his move to Manchester United within a matter of hours after a breakthrough in negotiations – although they claim the fee is actually £63m [€70m].
As well as completing a deal for Fernandes, both Marca and Sport suggest that United are also hoping to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio and will pay for the two midfielders with the sale of Paul Pogba to Real Madrid.
These reports bare a striking resemblance to the Corriere dello Sport article from Thursday which also said Fernandes and Milinkovic-Savic were set to join United with Pogba heading to the Bernabeu.
We’ll have to wait and see how much truth there is behind these reports but it looks like it’s going to be a busy final few days of the transfer window at Old Trafford as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continues to overhaul his squad.

The Norwegian coach has already signed Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka but he needs to revamp his midfield options and it seems Fernandes and Milinkovic-Savic could be heading to United – although fans would be disappointing if their arrivals led to the exit of Pogba.
