Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic over a five-year contract ahead of a potential move from Lazio worth £81m
We’re now at the business end of the summer transfer window and managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Here, Man Utd have agreed terms with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic…
Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic over a five-year contract ahead of a potential move from Lazio worth £81m [€90m], according to Corriere dello Sport.
Milinkovic-Savic has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer and Gazzetta dello Sport reported late last week that the midfielders agent, Mateja Kezman, had flown to England to try and thrash out a deal.
It appears those negotiations are progressing well as Corriere dello Sport now claim Man Utd have agreed terms with the 24-year-old over a five-year contract worth around £5.4m-per-year net.
The Italian outlet says United are proposing a deal worth £67.5m [€75m] up front with a further £13.5m [€15m] in add-ons but Lazio are hoping to reduce the amount of conditional clauses to get the base fee closer to £81m [€90m].
Corriere dello Sport says the players agent will remain in England to try and finalise the deal but Man Utd won’t complete any transfer until the future of Paul Pogba has been resolved one way or the other.
Pogba has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid after going public with his desire to seek a new challenge this summer but United are trying to persuade the Frenchman to remain in England for at least another season.
The 26-year-old is still tied to a long-term contract at Old Trafford and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made it clear he wants Pogba to stay but the Madrid rumours refuse to go away and it’s never easy to keep an ‘unhappy’ player against his will.
If Pogba is successful in forcing a move this summer then it appears Solskjaer has put a contingency plan in place having reportedly lined-up Milinkovic-Savic as the man to replace the French super-star.
The Serbian international has developed into one of the most talented midfielders in Italian football during his time at Lazio and he would be an exciting signing if he ended up joining United this summer.

The signings may not stop there as Man Utd have also been strongly linked with Bruno Fernandes in recent weeks so Solskjaer may use the money from Pogba’s sale – if he leaves – to buy two big-money midfielders.
