We’re now at the business end of the summer transfer window and managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the world. Here, Man Utd are in talks for Christian Eriksen…
Manchester United are in advanced negotiations to sign Christian Eriksen with Tottenham ready to cash-in on the midfielder if £55m is put on the table, according to AS.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly looking to bring in a creative midfielder before Thursday evening’s transfer deadline amid on-going speculation surrounding the future of Paul Pogba and Eriksen has emerged as a prime target.
The Danish international has been linked with a move away from Tottenham since going public with his desire to seek a new challenge earlier in the summer and it appears United are keen on luring him to Old Trafford.
Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri claimed late last month that Man Utd had opened talks with Tottenham over a deal to sign Eriksen and AS says negotiations between the two clubs have ‘accelerated’ in recent days and are now at an advanced stage.
The Spanish publication claims United have offered Eriksen a lucrative five-year contract and the midfielder is seriously considering accepting the proposal after being convinced of the project being created at Old Trafford.
Once Eriksen gives the go-ahead and agrees the contract, the report says Man Utd will test Tottenham’s resolve with a formal offer and AS suggests Spurs would be willing to do business if £55m [€60m] was put on the table from their domestic rivals.
However, United could yet face stiff competition from Spain as the report says Real Madrid are also keen on Eriksen and will target the Danish international if they fail to agree terms for Pogba over the coming days.
It’s a fascinating situation as United could find themselves missing out on Eriksen if they refuse to sell Pogba to Madrid but Solskjaer insists they don’t want to sell the French international, despite his determination to leave this summer.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but Eriksen would be an excellent signing for Man Utd if they could get a deal agreed for the 27-year-old. No doubt Spurs would be reluctant to sell but the midfielder has just one year left on his contract so they are under pressure to cash-in or risk losing him for nothing in 12 months time.
