Man Utd & Tottenham both agree personal terms with £64.5m star – reports
Man Utd and Tottenham have agreed personal terms with Bruno Fernandes and must now reach an agreement with Sporting Lisbon to sign the £64.5m star
We’re now at the business end of the summer transfer window and managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the world. Here, the latest on Bruno Fernandes…
Both Manchester United and Tottenham have agreed personal terms with Bruno Fernandes and must now reach an agreement with Sporting Lisbon to sign the £64.5m-rated attacking midfielder, according to reports.
Fernandes’s future has been a constant source of speculation throughout the summer as he’s been strongly linked with a move to England after enjoying a sensational campaign that saw him provide 32 goals and 18 assists last season.
Manchester United were touted as the early front-runners for his signature before O Jogo claimed last week that Tottenham were looking to hijack the move after sending officials to Portugal to hold talks with Sporting president Frederico Varandas about a deal for Fernandes.
There have been a huge number of rumours circulating in the English and European media over the past week with various conflicting reports linking Fernandes with both United and Tottenham.
Today is no different as Italian journalist Nicolo Schira seems confident the 24-year-old is Manchester-bound as he claims Fernandes has agreed a long-term contract with United worth around €6m-per-year following talks with his agent.
Schira tweeted late last night:
Tonight #BrunoFernandes’s agent has talked with #ManchesterUnited to close the agreeement for the player (ready a contract by €6M a year until 2025). Now #RedDevils must finalize the deal with #Sporting for €70M. #transfers #MUFC #mutd
However, Portuguese journalist Goncalo Lopes suggests that Fernandes is closer to joining Tottenham as he claims the midfielder has agreed personal terms with Spurs. He tweeted this morning:
Bruno Fernandes: TODAY, Bruno and his agent have an agreement with @SpursOfficial. The spurs, although, still have to reach one with @Sporting_CP
The last offer from @SpursOfficial: 50+10m. @Sporting_CP want 70, at least. #BrunoFernandes
So it seems both United and Tottenham may have agreed terms with Fernandes, however, the one thing Schira and Lopes agree on is that the two clubs are yet to find an agreement with Sporting as the club are holding out for an offer worth around £64.5m [€70m].
It remains to be seen whether either United or Spurs will meet that asking price but Fernandes would be an exciting signing for whoever wins the race for the Portuguese international’s signature this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly in the market for an attacking midfielder amid on-going doubts surrounding the future of Paul Pogba and Fernandes would provide an added spark United have lacked in the final third at times.

Mauricio Pochettino is also on the look out for a creative midfielder to possibly replace Christian Eriksen after he suggested he wanted a new challenge this summer and it seems Spurs are eyeing Fernandes as an alternative to Real Betis star Giovani Lo Celso.
