We’re now at the business end of the summer transfer window and managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the world. Here, Man Utd are linked with Inaki Williams….
Manchester United are prepared to meet Inaki Williams’ £81m [€88m] release clause after identifying the Athletic Bilbao hitman as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, according to according to El Chiringuito TV via the Daily Mail.
After weeks of speculation, Lukaku looks to be heading to Italy with reports today suggesting that United have accepted an improved £72m bid from Inter Milan for the wantaway Belgian international.
His exit will leave a void needing to be filled up front and while youngster Mason Greenwood has impressed in pre-season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer really needs a more established name if United are to compete on all fronts this season.
The Manchester giants have been linked with a number of players in recent days but a new name has emerged as a potential target with the Daily Mail citing a report from El Chiringuito TV that claims United are eyeing a late swoop for Williams.
The Spanish media outlet says Manchester United are going all out to land the 25-year-old before the transfer window closes at 5pm on Thursday and are prepared to meet his £81m [€88m] release clause.
Williams has spent his entire career at Athletic Bilbao having come through their youth system and he’s developed into one of the most exciting attackers in La Liga with his searing pace catching the eye of fans and pundits alike.
The striker has just one cap for the senior Spanish national team but has been tipped to break into Robert Moreno’s squad after contributing 15 goals and 4 assists for a Bilbao side that finished 8th in the table last season.
Williams is primarily a centre-forward but he can also play out on either wing if needed so his versatility would be a valuable asset for Solskjaer to have at his disposal if United are successful in luring him to Old Trafford.

If United do trigger his £81m release clause then it would be up to the player to decide whether he wants to leave Bilbao and you’d assume Williams would jump at the chance of joining a club the size of Manchester United.
