Man Utd handed major double injury boost as squad is revealed for Arsenal clash
Manchester United have been handed a major double boost with Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford named in tonight’s squad to face Arsenal at Old Trafford
Manchester United have been handed a major double boost with Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford named in tonight’s squad to face Arsenal at Old Trafford, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Pogba made his return after playing 90 minutes during Man Utd’s 1-1 draw with Rochdale in the third round of the Carabao Cup last Wednesday night having missed the previous three games with an ankle injury.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed after the game last week that Pogba had aggravated the issue and was a major doubt to take on Arsenal this evening as the ankle was badly swollen and painful.
However, it looks like Pogba has made a speedy recovery as the M.E.N has revealed that the French international will be in the squad tonight after being spotted arriving with the rest of the Man Utd players at the team hotel this afternoon.
Rashford was forced off with a groin injury during United’s defeat at West Ham eight days ago and Solskjaer said the striker was expected to miss the visit of Arsenal to Old Trafford tonight.
However, in a major double boost for Man Utd, the England international was also spotted among the squad that arrived at the Lowry Hotel this afternoon so it looks like Rashford will be involved against the Gunners.
The availability of two key players like Pogba and Rashford will come as a welcome boost to Solskjaer as he looks to get United back on track following a string of below par performances.
However, it wasn’t all good news for the hosts as the M.E.N claims Anthony Martial wasn’t among the squad that arrived at the Lowry Hotel this afternoon so he looks set to miss out with an on-going thigh injury.
The newspaper says there was no sign of Aaron Wan-Bissaka either so he may not be involved while Luke Shaw has failed to prove his fitness despite returning to training on Friday following a month absence with a hamstring injury.
There is a small chance other players arrived separately from the rest of the squad but 19 players were spotted arriving at the hotel today so it looks like Martial, Wan-Bissaka and Shaw won’t be involved against Arsenal.
Here are the 19 players who arrived at the hotel, as confirmed by the M.E.N:
De Gea, Romero, Grant; Lindelof, Tuanzebe, Maguire, Rojo, Williams, Young; McTominay, Matic, Pereria, Fred, Pogba; Lingard, Mata, James, Rashford, Greenwood
