“Sack him tonight” – Some Arsenal demand Emery is sacked after draw vs Southampton

Arsenal fans have been demanding Unai Emery is sacked after the Gunners were held to a fortunate 2-2 draw by Southampton at the Emirates this afternoon.
The Gunners went into the game having not won any of their last four Premier League games after taking just two points from matches against Sheffield United, Crystal Palace, Wolves and Leicester City so the pressure was already on Emery’s shoulders.
The Spaniard was feeling the heat just 8 minutes in to today’s game as Southampton took a surprise lead when Danny Ings raced clear to make it 1-0 following some sloppy Arsenal defending from a quick free kick.
Alexandre Lacazette levelled things up 10 minutes later when he fired home from close range to make it 1-1 and it looked like Arsenal would go on to claim an important three points at the Emirates.
However, Southampton were awarded a 71st minute penalty after Kieran Tierney was adjudged to have tugged Ings in the area. Bernd Leno saved the resulting penalty from James Ward-Prowse but the midfielder converted from the rebound to make it 1-2.
The Saints had chances to put the game to bed and Arsenal fans were furious as the full time whistle approached. Not even a last gasp equaliser from Lacazette to salvage a barely deserved 2-2 draw could silence the boo-boys at full-time.
Fans have also taken to social media to vent their anger with a growing number of Arsenal supporters demanding Emery is sacked by the board following our latest disappointing performance and result.
It’s certainly difficult to see how Emery can turns things around from here and it seems only a matter of time before he’s relieved of his duties. Defeat at home to lowly Southampton could have forced the club into action but it remains to be seen whether Lacazette’s late equaliser has bought Emery more time.
Here is what fans were saying on Twitter:
SACK HIM TONIGHT @Arsenal

Emery out. All the way out.

The door to his office should’ve had the locks changed before he entered the tunnel #EmeryOut

Absolutely dreadful. No idea how we got anything out of that game. Southampton should have sealed it.
I don’t even really blame Emery for this.
These dropped points are on Raul, Edu, Josh, & the board who should have done what they needed to well before now. #EmeryOut

EMERY OUT.

I’m reduced to celebrating desperate last gasp goals to draw with vastly inferior opposition. At home. Sack him.

If they don’t sack him because of this point our leadership is just as feckless as ever

Crystal clear that Unai Emery has taken this Arsenal project as far as he can.
We don't create, our midfield has no structure, basic lack of focus, and our defending is still a laughing stock.
Replacement needs to be right though. No point in moving him on for another car crash

‘Sacked in the morning’ chants in the stand. That’s all I want now

This is tough to watch. Regardless of how the result ends up, look at this performance man. There’s nothing there. Arsenal need to stop being tight and make the call.
