Arsenal team news: Key man a doubt for Brighton clash + Ceballos latest

Freddie Ljungberg takes charge of his first home game as interim Arsenal manager when Brighton head to the Emirates on Thursday night.

Ahead of the game, the Gunners have issued a team news and injury update on Arsenal.com which includes the latest on the fitness of Hector Bellerin and Dani Ceballos.

Bellerin has missed Arsenal’s last two matches against Eintracht Frankfurt and Norwich City after picking up a minor hamstring injury during the draw with Southampton ten days ago and the right-back remains a doubt for Thursday’s game.

The Spanish international has been in training this week but Arsenal say Bellerin will need to be assessed before a final decision over his availability against Brighton can be determined.

Ceballos has been on the sidelines since suffering a hamstring strain during Arsenal’s draw with Vitoria a month ago. The midfielder remains unavailable for selection as he bids to resume full training later this month.

An update on Arsenal.com said:

Dani Ceballos
Left hamstring. Sustained during the Vitoria (a) match on November 6. Aiming to return to full training mid-December.

Hector Bellerin
Tight hamstring. Being assessed ahead of Thursday’s match.

Rob Holding missed the 2-2 draw with Norwich on Sunday afternoon with his own hamstring issue but there was no mention of him in the team news update so we have to assume he’s available for selection on Thursday.

Arsenal welcome Brighton to north London looking to end a shocking run that’s seen us fail to win any of our previous eight games in all competitions so Ljungberg will be desperate to get off to a positive start in front of the home fans.
