Liverpool have confirmed their 19-man travelling squad for tomorrow night’s Champions League clash with Salzburg.
Jurgen Klopp has been handed a double fitness boost as Dejan Lovren and Gini Wijnaldum have been passed fit to make the trip but Adam Lallana has been left back in Merseyside.
Lovren was a doubt for the Salzburg game after limping out of Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Bourenmouth at the weekend with a muscle problem. Liverpool were relieved to find out it was only cramp and the centre-back has been passed fit to face Salzburg after taking part in full training today.
Wijnaldum missed the Bournemouth game on Saturday due to a minor thigh problem but the Dutch international also trained at Melwood today and has been included in the 19-man travelling squad that will head to Austria this afternoon.
However, Lallana won’t be on board the plane as the midfielder has been ruled out of the Champions League clash due to a muscle issue which kept him out of Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth.
Youngster Curtis Jones takes Lallana’s place in the Liverpool squad but long-term absentee Joel Matip misses out with an on-going knee problem while Fabinho is still recovering from an ankle injury.
The likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Sadio Mane and Divock Origi are in the travelling squad and they’re pushing for recalls to the starting eleven after being named on the bench at the weekend.
Leaders Liverpool head to Austria for a pivotal final group stage game knowing they need to avoid defeat against third-placed Salzburg to guarantee their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Here is the confirmed 19-man squad, as per Liverpoolfc.com:
Alisson, Van Dijk, Wijnaldum, Lovren, Milner, Keita, Firmino, Mane, Salah, Gomez, Adrian, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Shaqiri, Robertson, Origi, Jones, Kelleher, Alexander-Arnold.
