Man Utd vs RB Leipzig: Match preview and betting predictions
Manchester United face RB Leipzig at the Old Trafford in a fixture from Group H of the Champions League on Wednesday night. We expect a great game here, so let’s preview it in these free soccer predictions for today.
These two teams are the current leaders in Group H because both of them won their first matches for the 2020/21 season. Manchester United took the three points against PSG in the French capital while the German side scored a 2-0 win over Istanbul Basaksehir at the Red Bull Arena. This group is really competitive and we expect to see three teams fighting for the first two spots. This means that every point is going to be crucial.
During the weekend Manchester United only won a point against Chelsea in the Premier League as the game at the Old Trafford ended with a 0-0 draw. Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer surprisingly included players like Daniel James and Juan Mata in the starting eleven, but it didn’t really work out. In the second half Edinson Cavani made his debut for the club, but he wasn’t able to find the breakthrough.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has some options for this game on Wednesday. He could use Cavani from the start or maybe put Donny van de Beek in the starting eleven. Another option in defense is Axel Tuanzebe who played surperbly against PSG at the Parc des Princes.
RB Leipzig reached the Champions League 1/2-finals last season, so you can be sure in one thing – they will fight with United and PSG for reaching the knockout phase again. The Red Bulls already started with a win against Istanbul Basaksehir while now they will chase a strategic result at the Old Trafford. We think even a draw would be a acceptable result for Leipzig.
RB Leipzig enjoyed a 2-1 win at home against Hertha BSC in their Bundesliga clash on Saturday. They continue to lead the league standings after five rounds played. Upamecano and Sabitzer from a penalty kick scored against Hertha at the Red Bull Arena.
Julian Nagelsmann’s problems are linked to the injuries of players like Klostermann, Hartmann, Haidara and Laimer. They are all sidelined at the moment.
Betting tips
Man Utd are the 5/4 favourites to win the game with the bookmakers but this is going to be an extremely tough match for them. The draw looks tempting at odds of 12/5 while you can back Leipzig to secure all three points at 23/10.
United have struggled at home in the league so far this season having picked up just one point at Old Trafford and if you think the Red Bulls are underdogs here, don’t forget they are leading the Bundesliga standings at the moment.
A 1-1 draw is our prediction for this match and you can bet on that result at odds of 11/2. If we add Marcus Rashford as first goalscorer in a 1-1 draw then we can get excellent odds of 44/1 – which is our bet for this game.
