Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur: North London Derby betting preview
Arsenal take on Tottenham Hotspur in a huge North London Derby at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Here is a betting preview.
Arsenal take on Tottenham Hotspur in a huge North London Derby at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners have got their campaign back on track following a nightmare start that saw them sitting bottom of the Premier League table after losing their first three matches.
However, consecutive 1-0 wins over Norwich City and Burnley have eased the pressure on Mikel Arteta’s shoulders while Arsenal also booked their place in the fourth round of the League Cup with a comfortable 3-0 win over AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday night. Therefore, Arteta will be desperate to make it four wins on the bounce with another victory over Tottenham on Sunday.
The visitors are also in need of a positive result in the North London Derby as Tottenham’s campaign has stuttered lately. After winning their opening three league games, Spurs have lost their last two with an aggregate score of 0-6 and could only draw away to Rennes in the Conference League.
Tottenham also blew a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 at Wolves in the League Cup on Wednesday night with the Londoners squeezing through on penalties so Nuno Espirito Santo will be hoping to see a much-improved performance on Sunday.
Betting odds
It’s always tough to predict these games as anything can happen in a local derby with form going out the window. Many fans feel derbies are a lottery and you’d be better of heading to https://www.real-money-slots.org/ and trying your luck on roulette or the slots rather than wasting your money betting on this game!
However, there is still expected to be plenty of action on the betting exchanges on Sunday and Arsenal are the 5/4 favourites to collect all three points. Tottenham can be backed at 12/5 to win while the draw is available at odds of 23/10.
We’re expecting a competitive game but fancy Arsenal to edge it and a 2-1 win for the hosts looks tempting at odds of 8/1. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be the dangerman for the Gunners and he’s 4/1 to open the scoring. If we combine Aubameyang scoring first in a 2-1 Arsenal win we get excellent odds of 41/1.
Team news
Arsenal have a fully fit squad to choose from after coming through the Wimbledon game unscathed. Granit Xhaka is back in contention after serving a three-match ban while Mohamed Elneny is available after overcoming a hamstring issue.
Kieran Tierney is also over a bout of cramp so he’s expected to return at left-back while the likes of Aubameyang, Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, Ben White, Gabriel and Emile Smith Rowe should be recalled after being rested in midweek.
As for Tottenham, they’ll still be without Steven Bergwijn due to injury and Ryan Sessegnon remains out with a hamstring issue. However, Lucas Moura is expected to recover from a knock and Hueng-min Son, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Sergio Reguilon are among those set for recalls.
Prediction: Arsenal 2-1 Tottenham
