Arsenal will be looking to tighten their grip on fourth place with a win over Leeds United at the Emirates this afternoon. Here is our betting preview
Arsenal will be looking to tighten their grip on fourth place with a win over Leeds United at the Emirates this afternoon.
The Gunners remained two points clear of Tottenham thanks to a hard fought 2-1 win at West Ham last weekend with Rob Holding and Gabriel scoring the all-important goals at the London Stadium.
However, Tottenham’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Saturday night has left the door open for Arsenal to move four points clear of their north London rivals with victory over Leeds United this afternoon.
That would put Mikel Arteta’s side in a strong position heading into the pivotal North London Derby at White Hart Lane on Thursday night, so it’s an opportunity they won’t want to miss.
However, Leeds head to the capital in desperate need of a positive result themselves as they face a battle to remain in the Premier League. They currently sit 17th in the table, just two points ahead of Everton, so Leeds will want to put some distance between themselves and the drop zone with a result at Arsenal.
Betting odds
Arsenal versus Leeds is one of the biggest games in the UK today so we should see plenty of action in the betting markets. Bookmakers and betting sites will be vying for your business, and our foreign visitors can follow the Fun88 link to see some of the best places to gamble on the match.
Understandably, Arsenal are the favourites to win the game with bookmakers offering odds of around 2/5 on the Gunners claiming all three points. The draw is available at odds of 4/1 while you can back Leeds to cause an upset and win the game at 11/2.
Arsenal should be too strong for Leeds and a 2-0 home win looks good at odds of 13/2. If we add Saka as first goalscorer in a 2-0 Arsenal win, the odds increase to 40/1.
Team news
Arsenal have been handed a boost as Ben White is set to return to the squad after recovering from a thigh injury that kept him out of the win at West Ham last weekend. Rob Holding is likely to drop out despite his MOTM display at the London Stadium.
However, the Londoners will still be without the services of Thomas Partey as he’s still recovering from a thigh injury while Kieran Tierney won’t play again this season following knee surgery.
As for Leeds, Patrick Bamford remains on the sidelines with an ankle injury while Tyler Roberts is also out with a thigh injury. Adam Forshaw is another absentee with a knee injury and Stuart Dallas is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a fractured femur.
But there is some good news for the visitors as Liam Cooper is expected to be available after recovering from a knee complaint.
Prediction
Arsenal desperately need a win to boost their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League and they should be high on confidence off the back of three excellent results in recent weeks.
Leeds are also in dire need of a positive result to aid their survival fight but we can’t see past a home win today. We’re backing the Gunners to ease to a 2-0 win and move clear in fourth place in the table. Arsenal 2-0 Leeds
