French Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain will be the first club to tempt Manchester United with an offer for Dimitar Berbatov during the transfer window with a £12 million opening bid for the Manchester United number-9, according to reports.
Berbatov’s future at Old Trafford is currently on the line following Sir Alex Ferguson’s decision to leave him out of the UEFA Champions League final clash against Barcelona last weekend and then hand Michael Owen a new one-year deal.
Manchester United are believed to be willing to listen to offers of between £10 million to £15 million for their Bulgarian striker, who cost them a massive £30.75 million from Tottenham Hotspur three years back.
Despite being left out of the UEFA Champions League final squad, Berbatov has stated that he wants to stay at the club and fight for Manchester United’s 20th title.
I will stay, I will fight for the 20th title.
If I were an easy quitter, I would never have made it this far. Everything at Manchester United starts from scratch for me on July 4.
There will be new finals and we will be fighting for new titles. I am moving ahead. When you go through difficult times, you should not quit.
The truth is that I stayed at the dressing room and watched the Champions League final there, on a TV screen.
I was really disappointed. I was ashamed that I was not part of the team and did not want people to see how sad I feel.
The 30-year-old was the Barclays Premier League’s joint top scorer last season alongside Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez with 20 goals.
