Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will be sidelined for between 2-4 weeks with a sprained ankle, according to Sky Sports News sources.
Rooney is on the way home after Manchester United’s 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich and it’s expected to be confirmed soon that he will definitely miss Man Utd’s top of the table clash with Chelsea on Saturday, as well as the return leg of their champions league tie against Bayern Munich next Wednesday and the trip to Ewood Park to face Blackburn the following Sunday.
If Rooney is out for the full 4 weeks, he will also miss crucial Manchester United premier league games against Manchester City and Tottenham.
This is a cruel blow to both Man Utd and Rooney, who has been in the form of his life recently and will be sorely missed as United look to over-turn a 2-1 defeat in the champions league and win the premier league for a record 4th consecutive year.
