REPORTS: United Set To Seal £27m Sanchez Deal
Manchester United chief David Gill has flown to Spain to finalise the acquisition of Udinese star Alexis Sanchez.
The Sun reports that United are confident of wrapping up a £27million move for one of football’s hottest properties. The 22-year old is wanted by European heavyweights Barcelona and Manchester City, but, it is the red half of Manchester that is set to win the race for Chilean.
Gill met the Udinese president on Tuesday to thrash a move for the winger. The move will to come to a bitter blow for Roberto Mancini who had identified the former Cobreloa man and his top priority this summer.
Reports earlier on in the week suggested City had tied up a move for Sanchez, but his agent was quick to quash any such notion, he said:
“An agreement with City? Sanchez’s future is still very much wide open.
“We are working on it and, after meetings with City, we have other new appointments.”
The deal is set to cost Untied £4m extra than they had originally anticipated, but the Red Devils had to increase their offer to fight of interest from the La Liga champions Barcelona.
