Arsenal & Liverpool Battle For £12m Defender & £10m Midfielder
Liverpool & Arsenal Chase Dann
Liverpool and Arsenal will go head-to-head to sign Birmingham City defender Scott Dann. The duo are both keen on the defender but will not pay the £12million asking price.
The 24-year old is seen as a cheaper alternative for both Arsene Wenger and Kenny Dalglish, but the pairing are both sceptical over the inflated price tag place for the former Coventry man.
Premiership trio Aston Villa, Stoke and Blackburn are all reportedly interested in the Englishman but are only willing to pay half of the current asking price.
The People suggest the Blues are trying to auction off Dann, along with Roger Johnson, Craig Gardner and Cameron Jerome.
Liverpool & Arsenal also chase Ajax Starlet
Vurnon Anita is wanted by both Liverpool and Arsenal. Dutch sources suggest Liverpool are winning the race to sign the 22-year old who would cost a potential suitor £10million.
The defensive midfielder has just won the Eredivisie with Ajax, but would be keen on a switch to England. The talented Dutch ace has only 3 caps for his country but is set to play a bigger part in the squad after another impressive season with the Holland giants.
Speculation has cooled with Liverpool after the acquisition of Jordan Henderson, but Wenger could ponder a move for the versatile midfielder who is seen as an alternative option if Nasri and Fabregas decide to leave this summer.
