ARSENAL TRANSFER NEWS: Talented Playmaker Linked | Surprise Move Also Confirmed
There has been some interesting transfer rumors, gossip, news, speculation surrounding the Gunners in the last few days. Without further ado, here is the Arsenal Transfer News Roundup.
Arsenal Eyeing Up Jurado As Fabregas Replacement
Several media reports are suggesting that the Gunners are considering signing Schalke star Jurado, as a replacement for Fabregas. Jurado, signed last season for Schalke from Atletico Madrid for around 11 million pounds. The report states that Schalke are having debt problems and are looking to offload some players, and Jurado could be one of them.
In my opinion, Jurado is a young, talented player who has great technique and passing range, along with an excellent right foot. He might not be a bad replacement for Cesc Fabregas, but there are better options.

Arsenal Planning On Making a Bid For Barton
This is quite a shocker as several reports are suggesting that the Gunners are considering making a 1.5 million pound bid for Newcastle’s Joey Barton, who’s in the last year of his contract. Barton, who is notorious for his off-field problems and run-ins with the law, as well as his reckless challenges on the pitch. Ex Newcastle striker Micky Quinn told Talksport:
“I know through a third party that Arsenal have enquired about Joey Barton.
“What I’m gutted about as an ex-Newcastle player is that the spine of the team, the personality of the team is going to be gone.
“Why are they letting players like Joey Barton go if they have any ambition, but it’s only going to Arsenal’s gain.
“He’ll put a bit of steel into that Arsenal team, he goes forward, he was made captain, he’s grown up and he said himself that he’s making up for lost time for stupidity and injury, he wants to get to the top.
“I think Joey has settled down a lot now, we know he’s a bit of a hot-head, we know he’s paid on and off the pitch for his stupidity but he’s settled down.”
Barton had an excellent season with Newcastle, with some suggesting that he should be called up for England. I don’t doubt his ability, he is a good passer and an excellent set piece taker, but as an Arsenal fan and after what he did to Diaby last season and other incidents involving Arsenal players over the years (Nasri, Fabregas, etc.) I’m really not keen on seeing him as a Gunner and I doubt Wenger would go for him.
What do you think? Is Jurado a good replacement for Fabregas, if he leaves? Should the Gunners go for Barton? Please share your thoughts and opinions.
Cheers and take care,
