Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Miss Out On Top Target | Shock Defender Move | Striker Interest

By on July 14, 2011

Today has been another day of interesting and fascinating transfer news, gossip, rumors, speculation regarding the Gunners. Without further ado, here is the Arsenal Transfer News Roundup.

Arsenal To Lose Out On Cahill

Many reports are filtering out, stating that the Gunners are going to miss out on the signing of Gary Cahill to Chelsea. It is said that Chelsea’s new manager, Andre Villas-Boas, is on the lookout for a new central defender and reports say that the club’s skipper, John Terry,  has recommended Bolton’s Gary Cahill.

If Chelsea do sign Gary Cahill, then it would be a set back for Wenger, as he has long held an interest in the England international and will continue to frustrate fellow Gooners, who consider signing a new, quality central defender as a necessity this summer.

Hamburg Show Interest In Bendtner

According to Hamburg’s sporting director, Frank Arnesen, the club are interested in signing want away Arsenal striker, Nicklas Bendtner. He does state, though, that it’s unlikely that they’ll be able to sign him and it would take a “small miracle” to acquire him.

Here is what he said, they highly rate him:

“We need more creativity in our offence. A midfielder with quality would be good for us,” he told Hamburger Abendblatt. “Bendtner would be a real dream, he is a very interesting player.

“He can also play as an attacking midfielder behind the attacker. But it would almost amount to a small miracle for us to get him. There are two other clubs who have made Nicklas an offer and we are unfortunately not in that position.”

Despite this, he does indicate that other clubs have made offers for him and is very likely to leave. The Gunners reportedly value him at around 12 million pounds.

Koscielny Linked With A Move To Everton

Interesting piece of news coming out, stating that Everton are interested in signing Laurent Koscielny from the Gunners. The report also states that Everton have already made inquiries on Koscielny’s availability and consider him a good replacement for their want away defender, John Heitinga.

In my opinion, I don’t think Koscielny will be leaving anytime soon, especially after just one season. He has made a few mistakes, but overall I believe he’s done well, especially that memorable performance against Barcelona, in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium.

What do you think? Should the Gunners fight for Cahill’s signature? Do you believe that the Gunners should let go of Bendtner? Should the Gunners consider offers for Koscielny?

Please share your thoughts and opinions.

Cheers and take care,

Why didn’t Wenger buy Cahill the 1st day the transfer window opened? ….I’ve just about had enough of him to be honest!! Plus if we don’t get him, he’ll be moaning that we didn’t get him but it’s not like he hasn’t had enough time to do it!

Wenger didnt buy Cahill on the 1st day, because like every other club he feels he is over priced. He is also overrated and is not a £17m improvement on Djourou/Koscielny/Vermaelen. Also at just 6’2 he in not the dominant aerial presence that we need as an alternative, to what we have. He went for Phil Jones because he saw a better player, with more versatality. He is now playing the waiting game and i think it will work and he will secure a far better player (for Arsenal) than Cahill.

I don’t believe in wenger coz he is found of talking nonsense than sense. He will never sign cahill or any quality player we want at the club. Instead he will be selling our top stars to bank their money since he is a money lover and never want the success of this club. Why doesn’t he take a look at all our competitors who spent millions on players and take an example from them. Shame on wenger!

It is so difficult to accept that your average gooner these days is so thick and so gullible…don’t believe all the “exclusives” you read in the papers about our so called transfer dealings (or the internet/blog). Most of it is just plain wrong, and some of it is deliberate misdirection…think about it, if you cannot yet compete in a bidding war with the chavski or both sets of mancs for players then you don’t shout publicly about who you are buying!

Wenger is often a stubborn annoying bastad, and obviously gets things wrong, but is more often very shrewd when trying to buy players…those who like to shout “just buy x, y , and z.. now. Sorted” really should get out more often!

Completely understand your point, I’m just reporting the latest…. doesn’t mean I believe it, just wanted to give you all the latest in gossip and such.

Yes, Wenger is still shrewd player in the market, he bought Gervinho, who’s one of the best players in the French League for just around 10 million pounds, which is quite a bargain in my opinion.

Again though, I’m just providing you the latest, whether it’s negative or positive.

      Cheers and take care,
