AGENT: Striker Close To Deciding His New Club
Sergio Aguero will decide his future within the next week, his agent has confirmed.
Aguero announced last month he wanted to leave Atletico Madrid after spending five years with the Spanish outfit. The prolific striker has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City after fellow countryman Carlos Tevez announced he wanted to leave the Eastlands.
Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is also a fan but already boasts five strikers, so a move for the Argentine is unlikely. Rivals Real Madrid have also been heavily linked with the 23-year old but Atletico will be desperate to sell their star striker abroad.
Juventus have had a £25million bid turned down for the player with the club holding out for £40million which would price out the Italians. Aguero’s agent Hernan Reguera confirmed his client will announce his future within the next week.
“He wanted the Copa America to end to sit down and talk. During this week everything will be settled,” Reguera told Ole.
“Aguero has made a lot of important things for Atletico. He renewed his contract when he was one year away from becoming a free agent, he has played over 200 matches, he spent two years without vacations.”
“He is thankful to the fans and to the club’s board. We have been talking about this for two months.”
“I talk to the club’s chiefs on a daily basis, and if it was hard for them to accept at the beginning, they have agreed it and there are no problems.”
“In seven days the subject will be closed, but this has nothing to do with money. He wants his career to grow.”
