Player Refuses To Discuss Old Trafford Transfer Speculation
Manchester United target Wesley Sneijder is ignoring persistent speculation linking him with a mega-money move to Old Trafford.
Manchester United target Wesley Sneijder is ignoring persistent speculation linking him with a mega-money move to Old Trafford.
The latest rumour suggests United have given the Dutch ace a 2 week deadline to decide to move to Premiership champions. Sneijder is still mulling over the decision which will see the 27-year old take a decrease in salary. The playmaker is thought to be on around £200,000 a week.
The Holland international is in Beijing with his club preparing for this weekend’s Italian Super Cup against city rivals AC Milan, and said:
“I’m a footballer, I have many objectives and I want to win because I enjoy winning. Saturday is the first big challenge of the season.
“Playing the Super Cup in Beijing is cool and will be great fun. It’s the derby, too, of course, so it will be a great match.
“I’m really pleased to be here. I like this country and the people. Seeing all of this Nerazzurri passion will be a great motivator to win for our Chinese fans.
“I had never been here before and am really enjoying it. I really hadn’t been expecting anything quite like it.
“I’ve seen so many supporters, it’s great fun and this is a wonderful country, where football is a very popular sport.”
There has been rumours Sneijder has suffered a break down in his relationship with Inter boss Gian Piero Gasperini after being asked to play in a deeper position. The former Real Madrid player has dismissed this, but has confessed his favourite manager is Jose Mourinho, who led Inter to a famous Treble in 2009/10. He said:
“I’ve played for many coaches and each one has been different from the others, but Jose Mourinho is still the one I liked best both as a coach and as a man.”
