BREAKING NEWS: Arsenal Close In On £8m Centre Back

Arsenal are closing in on another defensive signing, after widespread reports claim they have agreed an £8.2m deal for German centre back Per Mertesacker.

The Gunners are desperately trying to find defensive reinforcements following Sunday’s 8-2 defeat to Man Utd, and a £6.2m deal for Brazilian left back Andre Santos will be completed shortly.

But a centre back is also required and with Arsenal failing to agree upon a deal with Bolton and Everton for Cahill or Jagielka, it seems Wenger has been forced to look outside the premiership for a solution.

Several media outlets are claiming an £8.2m deal has been agreed with Werder Bremen for Mertesacker and at 6 feet 6 inches, he certainly has the ariel presence Arsenal have been crying out for at the back.

If that’s true then its promising. Wish to see Hazard, Cahill, Jagielk and Mvila as well.

Go for them Wenger or else you’ll have to go home yourself.

Yea this guy has the height, but from observing him in past clubs, his defending when the ball is on the ground is abit suspect. Hopefully it woont be a problem. Keep the faith gunners.
