Fergie Gives Rooney Injury Update
By Football Talk.
Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney limped out of yesterday’s 4-0 victory over Stoke City at Old Trafford 13 minutes from the end, immediately sparking concerns over his fitness ahead of the World Cup. However, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson gave an update on Rooney’s injury, stating that its a recurrence of his groin injury he suffered last month and should be ok for the World Cup.
“He has aggravated his groin again,” said Ferguson.
“I don’t think it is serious. I think he will be OK for England.”
When Rooney limped off the whole country held their breath. He has been in tremendous form this season, scoring 26 goals for Manchester United as the Red’s finished only a single point behind champions Chelsea. He is without question England’s great hope going into the World Cup in South Africa so Fabio Capello, as well as millions of fans, will be breathing a huge sigh of relief.
